Important Notice to All Players and Clubs Participating in Non‑Sanctioned Tournaments

Cricket Finland (CF) is the sole governing authority for cricket in Finland and holds exclusive responsibility for regulating and sanctioning all cricket activities in accordance with International Cricket Council (ICC) regulations as well as from the Finnish Ministry and other authorities that govern the delivery of sports events throughout Finland.

This notice is to remind all players and clubs of their responsibilities and the serious consequences of participating in non‑sanctioned (unauthorised) cricket matches or tournaments.

What Is a Sanctioned Tournament?

A sanctioned tournament or match is one that has received prior approval from Cricket Finland after completion of the sanctioning process as outlined on the Cricket Finland website. This applies to:

• All domestic competitions in Finland
• Tournaments or leagues organised outside CF’s official national structure in Finland

Friendly matches between two Cricket Finland member clubs and competitions already organised or sanctioned directly by Cricket Finland do not require additional approval.

What Is Non-Sanctioned Tournament?

Any tournament or competition played in Finland without prior Cricket Finland approval is considered unsanctioned cricket.

Participation in such activities is strictly prohibited for licensed players and clubs

Player and Club Responsibilities

• Licensed players shall seek prior approval (NOC) from Cricket Finland before participating in any match or tournament that is not already sanctioned.
• Players who are eligible to represent another national team must also ensure they have obtained the required NOC from their respective National Governing Body.
• Players who have played international cricket for Finland within the last 24 months will require additional approval before participating in club matches.
• It is solely the member club’s responsibility under Cricket Finland annual General League License conditions (attached document below), to make sure that any player from the club gets NOC before participating in any CF non-sanctioned tournaments or competitions.

Consequences of Playing Unsanctioned Tournaments without an approved NOC

Participation in non‑sanctioned or disapproved cricket without an approved NOC will result in serious disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

• Monetary fines
• Deduction of league points from your club
• Suspension or termination of your league licence
• Loss of eligibility to play in CF competitions
• Further disciplinary action under CF and ICC regulations

Cricket Finland member clubs are also prohibited from fielding players or participating in events that have not received CF approval.

Before You Play – Always Check

If you are unsure whether a match or tournament is sanctioned:

• Do not participate until confirmation is received
• Contact your club administration or Cricket Finland directly, or check on our website
• Ensure a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) is in place
