Covering the last weeks of preparation for and participation at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Qualifier in Guernsey, Cricket Finland have appointed Takudzwa ‘Taku’ Kusano as Interim Head Coach of the Finnish Bears, men’s national squad. Taku has a wealth of experience in professional coaching around 15 years, having worked in South Africa, India and in the Netherlands, where he is now based. Taku is currently Head Cricket Coach at Amsterdam Cricket Academy.
To maximise support for the Finnish Bears performances on the field in Guernsey, Taku will be joined by Assistant Coach Troy Faithfull and Strength & Conditioning Coach Simon Dannapfel. Team Manager for the Qualifiers will be Andrew Armitage.
The Bears squad selected to play in Guernsey has also been updated, with one late change being made, which sees Hariharan Dandapani replaced by Ekhpelwak Kuchey.
Commenting on his appointment, Taku added “It is a great privilege to be appointed as the Head Coach of the Finnish Bears Men’s team. I feel both humbled and blessed by the opportunity to lead such an incredible group of men. Since meeting the team, I have been inspired by their passion and love for the game.
We are eagerly anticipating the T20 World Cup qualifier in Guernsey.
